BIRD OF PREY To Collaborate With Guitarist JIMI BELL
July 1, 2005BIRD OF PREY, the project fronted by vocalist Kyle Michaels, has announced a collaboration with acclaimed guitarist Jimi Bell. Jimi will contribute to forthcoming releases in the form of guitar work and collaborative writing. Having played for the likes of METAL CHURCH's David Wayne and AFM recording artist Rob Rock, Jimi has more than his share of impressive credentials. As fate would have it, both he and Kyle had brief stints with the GEEZER BUTLER BAND (featuring the BLACK SABBATH bassist),but never actually met.
Self-described as "'70s heavy rock with 21st century metal tendencies", BIRD OF PREY's music "will surely bridge generational and stylistic gaps with its strong melodic sensibilities, skillful arrangements, unique aura of mood and unforced sincerity; a masterful merger of classic and contemporary, providing a striking amount of freshness, and a healthy dose of familiarity," according to a press release. The band are currently shopping to record labels with the enthusiastic support of Crash Music mainman Mark Nawara. Pre-production recording is underway, and will conclude sometime in July. Official recording sessions commence in September, at various Chicago-area studios, and will wrap in November. All production duties for the album will be handled by Jon Oliva, the mastermind behind SAVATAGE, DOCTOR BUTCHER, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA and JON OLIVA'S PAIN. 2006 will see the release of the debut album, followed by worldwide touring.
